Paromi: Purity.  Aroma.  Inspiration.

Every tea has its own origins, variations in body and character and subtleties of taste and aroma. Paromi, a new line of specialty tea, has tapped into the mystique and versatility of this ancient, prized beverage, creating eight blends based on vibrant, all natural and organic ingredients.

Paul Rosen, the company’s 27-year-old founder and chief taster, grew up on St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands drinking bush tea, created from the herbs and flowers that grew around the island. His passion became obsession. While still in college at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Rosen began studying intensely with a Chinese tea master. While most of the Paromi flavor blends are created by Rosen himself, he continues to confer with an herbalist and master tea blender to ensure that his blends, comprised of ingredients sourced from all over the world, are properly balanced.

The Paromi collection includes an assortment of full-leaf teas including green, oolong, black, yerba mate, and rooibos, all accented with herbs, flowers, spices and small fruit pieces. The flavor combinations complement the different leaf varietals, highlighting the flavor notes in each tea.  The blends have rich bouquets and mouth feel without the astringency and acidity commonly found in tea.  Paromi’s blends are mixed in small batches to ensure flavor integrity and high quality standards

Original Paromi blends include Lemon Ginger, hand-picked Taiwanese oolong tea paired with lemongrass, lemon peel and the essence of ginger, and Coconut Almond, hand-picked Ceylon and Chinese black tea with savory almond and sweet slices of coconut.  Royal Breakfast, a multi-tonal blend of Chinese and Indian black teas, and Citrus Vanilla Chamomile, enhanced with orange peel and hibiscus, are available exclusively for restaurant, hotel, café, and catering services.

To maintain freshness and preserve flavor, Paromi is packaged in amber glass jars, protecting the ingredients from moisture, oxygen and UV light. The jars are 100 per cent recyclable and reusable. The teas are encased in transparent cornstarch-derived pyramid sachets that are biodegradable and made with no metal or paper.  Each jar contains 15 sachets.

“My first inclination was to create blends that, while unique, were familiar enough to satisfy a wide range of palates,” Rosen says.  “But in the very near future, I plan on expanding the collection to include more unexpected blends and rare varietals.”

Paromi tea is available at retail stores nationwide and at www.paromi.com.
